StoreLocal Welcomes Storage Rentals of America
Here on The Renter’s Bent, we’re happy to announce that Storage Rentals of America has just joined our parent company, StoreLocal, as a founding member. Storage Rentals of America has 38 self-storage facilities in the South and Midwest in Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Ohio. With this addition, StoreLocal now boasts more than 700 member facilities. The StoreLocal bylaws cap founder membership at 30, so Storage Rentals of America, the 20th founding company, had to go through a challenging approval system carried out by the Board of Directors.
StoreLocal, headquartered in Irvine, California, is a cooperative of self-storage companies working together to meet storage industry challenges of the 21st century. Together, they share the purchasing power of a single, massive corporation when acquiring services and products, making it easier for each small member company to compete against national chains.
Storage Rentals of America, a real estate investment company, purchases and develops self-storage facilities and invests in promising existing self-storage businesses.
CEO and Managing Partner of Storage Rentals of America, Benjamin Macfarland, made the decision to join StoreLocal.
Macfarland stated, “[StoreLocal is] a good resource for understanding certain conditions occurring inside the industry, trends that might be happening that we’re not aware of.” Indeed, the many facilities owners and managers in the StoreLocal cooperative also share their ideas and experience when it comes to moving every member company forward.
About the new partnership, Lance Watkins, StoreLocal CEO, said, “We’re excited to bring Ben Macfarland on board, because he’s not new to real estate. He’s backed by an ultra-high net worth family office and has a very heavy appetite to acquire a lot of real estate in the southeast United States. He’s a good fit for the co-op and StorageFront, because we’re able to leverage some of the experience we have in the industry with an operation that is growing very rapidly.”
