Surprise Your Valentine in a Storage Unit

Prank wars. I’ve heard of them, but I have never actually been a participant or victim. In fact, most of my friends were involved in some sort of prank war. One friend actually spent hours crumpling phone book pages in another friend’s room until the room was entirely covered, three feet deep of crumpled, paper balls. Tedious? Yes. Worth it? Definitely. And probably the most infamous prank war of my generation is between CollegeHumor employees Amir Blumenfeld and Streeter Seidell. Because my life is consumed by thoughts of the self storage industry, the prank that first came to my mind involved a storage unit. And since Valentine’s Day is not in the near future, my mind combined love and storage into one great prank for your valentine. First, before the special occasion, let your significant other know that you are planning the entire evening and you want to surprise them. To make the prank really effective, keep dropping hints about the romantic date you have planned. Rent a storage unit. Set the unit up to look like a hotel room, but cheaper. Have a table and chairs (lawn furniture would be best) and an air mattress. You can decorate, but make sure it is in good taste. The day of the date, tell your boyfriend or girlfriend to pack and overnight bag and to dress up before you leave for your destination. They should be assuming that you are going out for a nice dinner and then heading to a fancy hotel. When you leave, blind fold them and drive to the storage facility. Keep them blindfolded until they are seated at the table. They should be confused because they haven’t heard a waitress or other people or smelled food. Have a couple of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches ready and some plastic tableware. Remove your significant other’s blind fold and prepare for the surprise…or disappointment. Great idea, right? Just to be on the safe side, I would have an actual dinner planned and fancy hotel room booked. You don’t want to end up being single because of the prank. Believe me, your significant other will notice the effort you put into the prank and the actual romantic evening following the prank. Since I am really not all that creative, somebody also thought of another, possibly better, prank involving a storage unit. Check out the sinister spin on the Storage Auction scene with this awesome prank idea.
