Trouble Organizing? Try a Decluttering App!

Ready to organize your office, kitchen, or entire home? The first step we recommend is decluttering. Once you get rid of extraneous things, you can organize what you have in a way that works for you.

If you’re a technophile, you just might find one or more of the following apps helpful.

CintriQ

This tech manual organizing app will help you get rid of manuals that come with computers, smartphones, and other products.

When you get a new product, simply scan its barcode, or enter the product name. CintriQ will then allow you to download any information available, including the full manual and specs. You’ll then have the information available on your phone whenever you need it. Plus, you can recycle the physical copies taking up space. CintriQ is free for iPhone and Android devices.

Decluttr

Not only does this app help you remove clutter, making it easier to organize, you can make money with it, too! With Decluttr, you don’t even need to search for buyers yourself. It’s not like posting an item on eBay. Instead, you scan items, Decluttr offers a price, and you send it to them. Decluttr pays the postage. When they get the item, they send you the payment via check, direct deposit, or PayPal

Declutter works for books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, games, mobile devices, various tech items, and Lego blocks. It’s a big time saver and much better than just throwing items away. The Decluttr app is free for iOS and Android.

Get Rid of It

Today, the KonMari method, popularized by organization guru Marie Kondo, is ubiquitous with decluttering. Well, if you like the KonMari method, you’ll probably like using Get Rid of It. This app works in a similar way, by helping you get rid of things that don’t add value to your life.

While the KonMari method is intensive and is all about decluttering quickly, the Get Rid of It app helps you do so at a slower pace. You take 30 days to go through each room of your house. You can sell, donate, or throw out these belongings, though what you do with them isn’t the focus of the app.

One feature allows you to take pictures of each item you purge from your life. You can then write notes about it, including when you got rid of it and what you did with it. You can later look back at all you got rid of and see just how much you’ve simplified your life. The app is available for iOS and Android.

Letgo

Like Decluttr, Letgo allows you to sell your used items. Unlike Decluttr, you don’t sell them to the company that created the app. Letgo is more like Craigslist or eBay, in that you list your items, with an image, and set your own price. Potential buyers can contact you directly from inside the app.

Letgo is easy to use and lets you sell things locally. It’s free for iOS and Android.

Sortly

Do you ever go looking for that Blu-ray, that can opener, or even that roll of tape that you could swear you just bought, and can’t find it? When that happens, do you just go buy a replacement?

Sortly not only helps you find things when you don’t remember where you stashed them, but in doing so makes it easier to not buy duplicate items. This will save you money and help keep your house less cluttered.

Sortly is an inventory program for your home. As you might imagine, it can take a long time to get everything in your home into this app when you first download it! Once it’s all there, though, it’s easy to find anything in your home. It also allows you to store interesting information about your belongings, such as if it was a gift, when you got it, and so on. It can also change your mindset when you go shopping. If you know that you’ll need to put everything you get into the app (aside from groceries, perhaps), you’ll think twice about each purchase and make wiser buying choices. Sortly is free on iOS and Android.

Decluttering is a challenge, but with these apps, we’re sure you’ll be able to tackle it.
